Sanford Z. Berman

Sanford (Sandy) Berman is one of the founding fathers of Houlon, Berman, Bergman, Finci, Levenstein & Skok and takes pride in the reputation for excellence it has gained over the past 40 years.  His areas of practice span the wide range of services offered by the firm, with particular focus on family law, criminal and traffic law, civil matters and general litigation.

A native Washingtonian, Sandy earned his Bachelor’s degree in 1964 from the University of Maryland and law degree in 1967 from American University.  He belongs to the Prince George’s County, District of Columbia, Maryland State and American Bar Associations, as well as the Family Law Bar Association, National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, Maryland Criminal Defense Attorneys Association, Association of Plaintiff’s Trial Attorneys and Commercial Law League of America. 

Sandy also lectures for the Maryland Bar Association on legal professionalism and other topics and has served on a variety of legal advisory boards and committees for municipal entities in Maryland and the District of Columbia.  In recognition of his many achievements, Sandy was selected for inclusion on the Super Lawyers® list for both Maryland and the District of Columbia in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011.

Sandy and his wife have two sons, one who has followed in his footsteps as an attorney and one who is a prominent advertising executive.  When not practicing law, he enjoys a variety of sporting activities, including kayaking, skiing, hiking and weight training.
