How long do I have to bring my case?

You must file your suit within the statute of limitations, a specific time period within which the law allows you to bring claims for certain injuries and grievances. Generally, in Maryland, you have three (3) years from the date of the accident to bring your claim. Some injuries have less than a 3-year time period, while in other situations the time period in which you are allowed to bring a case may be longer than three years. For example, when an injured person is under the age of eighteen (18), the 3-year time period does not begin to run until the injured party turns eighteen (18). It is important to consult with a lawyer to better understand these time limits.
