Lott’s legal career began after he graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2004. After passing the Mississippi Bar Exam in February 2005, he began practicing law alongside his father, Duncan Lott.

While attending Ole Miss, Lott served as President of the law school’s student chapter of the Mississippi Association for Justice in 2004 after previously serving as Vice President. He also served on the Moot Court Board and placed in the top four in both the 2003 Moot Court Board Appellate Advocacy Competition and the 2004 Stein Reynolds Dalephite Trial Advocacy Competition.

Lott was additionally appointed Plaintiffs’ Co-Lead Counsel in class action litigation involving 667 claimants who were at the Escambia County Central Booking and Detention Facility in Pensacola, Florida, when the facility exploded on April 30, 2014.
